"Aaj cash pura hai ya nahi?"
Without an opening float, recorded drawer paid-outs and a closing report showing short or over, you find out about a shortfall next week โ if at all.
Complete point-of-sale and business management software for Pakistani retail. Barcode and weighing-scale billing, split payments, khata customers, returns and receipt printing at the counter โ and stock, purchases, accounts, staff and 43 reports behind it. It runs entirely on your own shop network, so billing never stops when the internet does.
One central computer holds your data and every counter connects to it, so all tills, the store room and the owner see the same live numbers. Munshi is used by supermarkets and general stores, and includes a dedicated Pharmacy / Medical Store mode that can be switched on for chemists โ or run alongside grocery items in the same shop.
Without an opening float, recorded drawer paid-outs and a closing report showing short or over, you find out about a shortfall next week โ if at all.
A khata copy with no credit limits, no running balance and no aging means the money you're owed is a guess, and the defaulter list is in someone's memory.
Without batch tracking and nearest-expiry-first selling, expiry losses are discovered on the shelf โ after the money is already gone.
Every feature here exists and works in the software today. What's still being built is listed honestly at the bottom of this page.
The counter screen โ 100% keyboard operated
Your own receipt design, editable without a programmer
Live stock, batch tracking and a full movement history
Both sides of your credit, finally in one place
Real double-entry bookkeeping running quietly behind every transaction
Switchable โ and it runs alongside grocery in the same shop
43 reports โ printable, exportable as PDF, or shared on WhatsApp
Optional โ and it can never slow your counter
Permissions you edit yourself, in a checkbox grid
Not mockups โ these are live screens from Munshi v2.11.
The things shopkeepers notice in the first month.
Not "offline mode with sync later" โ the whole system, including reports and printing, lives in your shop.
Most retail POS stops at a sales register. Munshi produces a general ledger and trial balance from the same data, with no separate entry.
Including below-cost sales, discount leakage by cashier, receivables aging, average purchase rate per item across suppliers, and stock in-vs-out by direction.
Weights kept to three decimals end to end โ no rounding losses on loose items.
Automatic nearest-expiry-first selling in every install, rather than a paid pharmacy add-on.
Every action โ payment, discounts, returns, holds โ without a mouse, with shortcuts you can remap yourself.
The cashier never logs out and the sale stays recorded against the cashier, not the manager.
Driven per item, rather than forcing the whole shop into one mode.
In search, on screen and on the receipt โ so staff find items the way they actually think of them.
The software is built around them โ multiple counters, weighing-scale integration, barcode billing and shift closing.
Moving from a register to a proper system, especially where khata is a big part of the business.
Batch/expiry control, salt-wise substitutes, DRAP numbers and a controlled-drug register.
Both modules run together on the same install, item by item.
Where fresh items are sold by weight โ fruit, vegetables, meat and loose grains.
Dealing on supplier credit and customer credit, needing ledgers and receivables aging.
Munshi is built for a single shop with multiple billing counters and multiple storage locations. It is not currently a multi-branch or multi-city system โ if you need that, talk to us about MyPOS or a custom build.
Roles are not fixed โ an admin can grant or remove any of the twelve permissions for any role from a checkbox grid inside the app, and set each role's maximum discount.
| Role | Who they are | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
| Admin | Owner or IT-in-charge | Everything: all screens, all reports, user and role management, settings, PRA screen, accounts and backups. No discount limits. |
| Manager | Shop / floor manager | Billing, discounts up to the limit you set, refunds and returns, full inventory, all reports, approving cashiers' over-limit actions and closing other cashiers' shifts. |
| Cashier | Counter operator | Billing only โ scan, take payment, print, hold bills, add a customer at the counter. Cannot discount, refund or change prices unless you grant it. |
| Stock Keeper | Store room / inventory staff | Stock adjustments, transfers, stock counts and receiving goods from suppliers. No billing, no reports, no prices. |
Munshi runs completely on your own hardware over your shop's local network. No internet is required for billing, stock, reports or printing. Tested for five or more counters billing at the same time, with safeguards that make it impossible for two counters to sell the same last item.
The software validates its own licence on the shop's machine with no phone-home requirement โ and even an expired licence never locks you out of your own data or reports.

Yes. Munshi runs completely on your own computers over your shop's local network. Billing, stock, printing and reports all work with the internet disconnected. You only need internet if you choose to turn on PRA tax submission.
Yes. One computer acts as the main server and every counter connects to it over your shop's network. All counters see the same live stock and prices, and the system is built and tested for five or more counters billing at the same time.
Yes. Munshi reads the barcodes your electronic scale prints and picks up the exact weight automatically โ including quantities like 0.485 kg โ so the cashier never types a weight by hand.
Yes. Every customer has a credit limit and a complete ledger of credit sales, payments and refunds with a running balance. Their outstanding amount shows in red on the billing screen, the system asks for manager approval when someone crosses their limit, and you can send a customer their statement on WhatsApp.
Yes. The system serves a live dashboard you open in your phone's browser over the shop Wi-Fi โ scan the QR code the app shows and you get today's sales, profit, top items, low stock and counter-wise sales, refreshing automatically. There is no app to install and no cloud account.
Yes. Munshi has a dedicated pharmacy mode with batch and expiry tracking, compulsory batch entry on incoming stock, expiry warnings, salt-wise substitute suggestions when an item is out of stock, DRAP registration numbers, a controlled-drug register with buyer details, and pharmacy-specific reports. It can also run alongside grocery items if your shop sells both.
Yes, optionally. Munshi can submit invoices to the Punjab Revenue Authority through a PRA device in your shop or through the PRAL cloud service, and prints a verification QR code on the receipt. Invoices are queued and submitted in the background, so a slow or offline tax connection never holds up your counter.
Your data stays on your own computer in your own shop. The system takes an automatic backup of the entire database every night and keeps a rolling set of copies, and you can take a manual backup any time. Every sale, void, refund, price change and stock adjustment is permanently recorded against the user who did it.
A full Urdu interface (Urdu product names are fully supported today in search, on screen and on the receipt โ but translating the app's own menus and buttons is only partly done), loyalty points (a points figure is stored and displayed, but points are not yet earned or redeemed automatically), and staff attendance (employee records, salary, advances and the employee ledger are complete and working; the attendance screen is not built yet). Munshi is also single-shop โ multiple counters and godowns, but not multi-branch.
Book a free demo and we'll import a few of your items, scan a barcode, take a split payment, and show you the closing report โ in one sitting.
